Today was a monumental day for me. I finally got to see and hear the engine running on the front of my bird. I took maybe 2 minutes of hand cranking, a slight burp from the engine, adjust the throttle, the choke, the throttle again and finally the engine ignited and the prop spun. What a moment! Initial idling was lumpy and made the LE bounce from side to side on partially inflated tyres.
After a few minutes to warm up the oil, throttle was added and I was able to see 2950rpm static and held the revs between 2500 and max for 5 minutes as part of the recommended breaking in operation. Will do 2 more times before the engine is considered ready to fly. I do need to add a bend to the mount where the oil temp probe enters the rear of the case as there is not enough room.
A successful day.
