The aluminium of the elevator has the Hotmelt adhesive painted on it and let to dry before draping the fabric over it and pegging just to hold it in place. Heat is applied to the hinge side where the fabric loops over. The supplied felt pad puts pressure to the fabric and tube so the adhesive can bond well and tightly. When the heat is removed, the cooling sets the adhesive. To attach the trailing edge the overhanging excess Oratex is pulled tight and the heat applied again, gradually moving my way around working the wrinkles out as I go.
