Covering the elevator begins with painting the gussets with 'Hotmelt' adhesive that has to be let dry. Same goes with painting the reverse side of an Orates600 strip which also has to be let dry before wrapping around the gusset and tacking in place with the iron. Excess fabric is trimmed off and then the digital heat gun set to 190C activates the adhesive and also shrinks the fabric. The elevator is laid out on a piece of Oratex which is roughly cut to shape leaving overhang to hold onto for stretching later in the application process.
