Brief Description:  Swaging

After levelling the fuselage and then the tail feathers to horizontal and vertical it is time to make some bracing cable. Doing one end is fine but getting the other end at the right length takes a little bit of fiddling and practice. I found the best method was to bring the correct tension to the 1/16" 7 x 7 cable and then hold the tension with vise grips. Not too tight so as to flatten or crush the cable, just enough to hold it from slipping.
When happy with the length, I remove the bolts holding the tabs and swaged the nicopress sleeve on the workbench which is so much easier than trying to do it in situ. Heat shrink the end for the clean finish.

The eye bolt in this picture came from my 'surplus container' and will be replaced with the correct type after the covering has finished. It was the right length for the job of holding the tab at this time.
