Brief Description:  Drilling HS Skins

Drilled the skin to the forward spar and the rear inboard rib, and clecoed in place the forward spar splice and reinforcing angles. I am to the point where I need a 90° drill attachment or a long #30 drill to drill the inboard ribs together and to the forward spar. I looked at Ace Hardware today but no luck on either. I have an angle attachment that will fit only bits with a hex base, but only fractional drill bit sizes are available with the hex bases to fit quick change chucks. I am tempted to use this with a 1/8” drill bit, since it is only 3/1000” smaller than the #30, but will try to resist the temptation until Steve Ashby gets back in town and I can borrow his.

Also, the top and bottom flanges of the inboard main rib appear to be a little short, and may not have sufficient edge distance from the hole to the edge of the flange.

The rear flange of the nose rib and the front flange of the main rib need to be drilled to the spar.

The skin hole over the rib flange appears a little bit forward, so the edge distance may be a bit shy.
