Brief Description: Remove, disassemble, debur & start dimpling tank
|
|
Having match drilled all the holes in the skin, ribs, baffle and spar, last night I finished machine countersinking the skin where it rivets to the baffle. I was constantly checking the locknut on the microstop countersink, to prevent the oversunk holes that happened in the previous skin. Then, I removed the tank from the wing, disassembled it, and started deburring the holes before I got tired and went to bed. Today, I continued deburring the holes in both sides of the skin and the baffle, and the one new rib that I had to replace. Tonight, after visiting our son's wife in the hospital, and having dinner, I continued by scotchbriting the skins where the sealant will be and getting ready to dimple. After that, I used the pneumatic squeezer to dimple the rib flanges and the stiffeners that will go on the bottom skin. It's after 10:30 or so, and the Queen is fixin' to, as we say in the South, hit the sack. I don't think I will do about 400 really loud hammer blows over the next hour or so, or else I will be sleeping on the floor or in the back yard, so will call it a night and figure on doing the rest of the dimpling tomorrow.
