Brief Description:  Started on a wing stand

Went to Home Depot yesterday to pick up some lumber and hardware to build a rolling wing stand for the wings, since I just can't throw them in a corner when finished. Also, I have a few rivets along the top skin trailing edge at the rear spar that I need to drill out and redrive, and the wing needs to be standing on the nose to do that properly. It is pretty clumsy trying to kneel on the floor and drill straight up with the wing lying flay on the table as it is now.

Took a nap after church today, I was pretty beat from yesterday, then started later on the stand. I got the framework mostly done, but still have to make the vertical plywood suppont with the airfoil cutouts for the outboard end of the wing to rest in, the other end is just a flat support for the main spar stub to rest on. Looks pretty neat.

The second two pics are from a couple of days later, when I was able to get the wing in the stand and get a better look at the imperfect rivets at the trailing edge. A few did not seat well due to some difficulty in placing the outside of the squeezer yoke on the back side in the vicinity of the spar reinforcement plates. Before drilling them out, I decided to try driving them a little bit with the rivet gun. I put the pics on this page since it was the only page with two picture spaces left. After tapping them a bit with the mushroom set against a bucking bar, they actually turned out pretty decent, and I did not have to drill them.
