Brief Description:  Cut out wing skin for pitot mast

Today I slacked off some during work hours and taped the cutout template to the lower left wing skin, and, using a step drill at the ends, started the cutout hole for the pitot mast. After a little sawing and a lot of filing, I got a pretty good fit around the mast.

I then mounted the skin to the wing skeleton and marked and drilled the rivet holes in the mast baseplate, and the two rear holes in the skin to match. The skin flexes a little when rearward pressure is put on the mast (as will occur with aerodynamic drag), perhaps I will make a little stiffener/doubler to place inside the skin to help that.

Then I started getting the left wing leading edge ready to install permanently to the spar. After a bit of work, I realized that I had put the tank in place prematurely and had to take it back off, to get to the rivets at the rear of the leading edge ribs at the inboard end. So, I took out the few screws and clecoes I had installed and took the tank back off.
