Brief Description: Finished right wing landing light
|
|
Today I took a short nap after church, then got started on the continuation of the right landing light. It seems like forever since I have had more than a few minutes to think about the project, let alone get anything done. So, with the Masters on TV going over in the corner, I got the plexiglass lens drilled and fitted to the wing opening that I cut a week or so ago. After that, I mounted the light to the adjustable bracket that I built when I did the left wing light, which seems like forever. I put the insulating tape around the inside of the hole and screwed the plexi into place. Fit very well, a little more snug than the left one. I may redo the plexi on tne left one, but not right away.
Next, I plan to get started on finally assembling the left wing leading edge and skins, but will probably get the heated pitot/AOA mount and skin cutout done first.
Then I stood both leading edges on end and wired both lights temporarily through an on-off-on toggle switch and made a video of the lights in steady and wig-wag mode, don't know if I can upload it to the site or not. After making the video, I caught my foot on one of the wires and tipped over both leading edges, causing minor dings in each. Cannot repeat my reaction, it was pretty vulgar. I was able to straighten out the dings pretty well, they are not noticeable now.

A pretty handy third hand when drilling for the nutplates for the light mounting bracket.

Finished right landing light.

Covered the lens with cardboard to help protect against dings and scratches.
