Instead of getting some heavier plate aluminum, I remembered that Chapter 690 has a sheet metal brake, so made a drawing of the mounting bracket, cut it out, and took the pieces to the Chapter hangar and bent them up using the brake. Worked like a charm, the plate was quite rigid and the adjustment screws worked well.
I did both at the same time, so when I start on the other (right) wing, the process will go quicker.
