Brief Description:  Changed conduit installation in wing, preparing to

This Sunday afternoon I decided to jump back into the plane construction, getting the left wing frame ready to begin covering. When dimpling the skin for the bottom of the left wing, I screwed up and dimpled the outboard skin at the lap edge before rolling the edge down. I decided to try to bend it down slightly with the hand seaming pliers. Big mistake! Looks like pure Crap! If it wasn't on the bottom of the wing, I would buy a new skin. If I had it to do over, I would pound the dimples flat, use the rollers to turn the edge down slightly, and redimple the holes along the edge.

Then I started to redo the conduit installation in the left wing. When I first installed the conduit, I thought I would save a little weight by leaving it short of the wing walk ribs and just install grommets in the last 3 ribs. Then I got to thinking it might be difficult to get wire through there with the wing on the airplane, so decided to extend the conduit through the root rib. The hardest part of this operation was opening up the holes in the middle two wing walk ribs from 3/4" to a little over 13/16", since there was no room to get a step drill in there without an extension. The only step drills I have have 3/8" shanks that are round, with 3 flats on them to allow chucking in a drill. The only 3/8" extensions I found after 2 days of searching had a hex shaped recess in the end, so I bought it to keep from looking any more. I then ground 3 additional flats on the shank of the step drill to make it into a hexagon. Worked pretty good, for a change.

Next, I got out the directions for the leading edge landing mount kit that came last week, and studied it for a while. Cutting a hole in the shiny new leading edge is a daunting idea. Too late to start that tonight.
