I was unsuccessful in removing the bad head stud with a screw extractor. So, I moved forward with the installation of a Keen sert.
I clamped the case half on the drill press table to make sure the hole was drilled straight. I step drilled the hole moving up a few sizes at a time until I had all the old stud removed and reached the final hole size recomended by the insert manufacturer.
