Brief Description:  CYLINDER HOLDING JIGS

Neccessity is the mother of all invention

To make dissassembly / assembly of the Corvair motor easier, I made these cylinder holding jigs.
the blocks were mead from some scrap hardwood I had layingh around. The tube spacers are 1/2" CPVC pipe(also excess I had in the shop)

I cut six blocks roughly 1" x 1" x 5.75"
The spacer tubes were approximately 2.375" & 3.125"

I measured the distance between the head studs, diagonally and drilled thru holes slightly larger than the threads on the studs. Then I drilled a stepped hole that fit the spacer tubes tightly

Tapped in the spacers and viola.....ready to use

Just place the block on top of each cylinder and use the stock nuts to hold them in place.

you can now turn the crank without the cylinders pushing out of the case.
