Brief Description:  Rudder Leading Edge

Rolled and riveted the rudder leading edge. I found this to be MUCH harder than doing the trailing edge. I used a 1 inch oak dowel for all sections, although the 1 1/4 inch rod might have been fine for the bottom section. The top section was easiest, because it is so short. The bottom section was next easiest, because it doesn't need as tight a radius, but it requires quite a bit of force to bend. The middle section was the real pain. I ended up with too large of a radius on one side, and once you have both sides rolled it is very difficult to get back in there and try to add more curvature. I ended up trying to add a little curvature with my hands. Mistake! I ended up with a crease in the inner skin near the rivet line. The second two pictures kind of show this, but it is hard to photograph. I got it out as best as I could and riveting drew it out some more. It isn't really bad once riveted, it was really annoying to have this happen though. I will probably fill the remaining dent with something (micro?, flox?) before painting, and it will be invisible.
