Building the rudder skeleton is straightforward, for the most part, given the small number of components involved. I clecoed the bottom rib to the rudder spar so the hole in the center of the rib could be enlarged to size. I fasbricated the shim as shown in the plans. I fastened the rudder horn to the spar to enable final drilling.
After fit checking the rudder horn to botton rib, I removed some of the top of the rudder horn so it nested with the rib flange. Next I clecoed the bottom rib and rudder horn to the rudder spar, slid the shim between the spar and the horn to allow them to be match drilled.
Finally, I clecoed the reinforcing plates to the spar. Next, I fluted the tip rib and counterbalance rib, clecoed them to the spar and match drilled them.
