I made test peices for dimples of sizes 3/32" to #10(3/16"). When I tested the countersinking done for the fuel tank attach points, I was disappointed with the fit. The #10 dimples fit much better than the #8 dimples that were called for. I think that they countersunk to the 3/8" maximum diameter of the outside of the countersink as shown in Fig 2 page 13-3 and not to make the #8 dimple fit nice. I debated to drill out the rivets holding the #8 nutplates and replace them with #10 nutplates to make the dimples fit better, but I haven't decided yet.
