Brief Description:  Install cowl cheeks

Date 4-16-06 Sec 12This weekend I finished the installation of the cowl cheeks. I trimmed the unnecessary material from the flange area of the cheek and located the holes thru the fuselage at the aft end of the cheeks. The cheeks were prep by sanding the mating surface of the flange and cleaning with lacquer thinner. I scored the mating area of the fuselage with a fine wire brush to aide adhesion. The fuselage was cleaned with lacquer thinner. After marking the outline of the cowl cheeks on the side of the fuselage I taped the outline to prevent proseal from fouling the side of the fuselage. I mixed up some Proseal and applied it the cowl cheek flange. Using clecos I installed the cheek to the side of the fuselage, the holes were sized to a #30 drill and counter sunk to accept flush pull rivet. This process was repeated on the opposite side of the fuselage.(Image) 00-0354,00-355 &00-356
