Brief Description:  Rudder Hinge on Vert Fin Spar

Lots of deburring today. So the two hinge wrappers get clecoed to the spar and then the rudder hinge gets inserted between the two, push them together until the edges of the hinge wrappers line up with the hinge slots. Clamp in place at each end. Carefully insert the 12", #40 drill bit in and drill, then cleco several of the holes...it gets harder as you get toward the skinny end. At this point remove the clecos and take the spar off the hinge. Now you should be able to drill all the holes but doublececk that nothing moved. Enlarge to size 20. Then pull out the hinge pin, uncleco and deburr the spar, hinge and hinge wrappers.
At this point I cleaned these items up and primed the backs of the hinge wrappers. I didn't use cortec here because I learned my lesson early on using cortec on the hinge of the elevator trim tab...it got in the joints and made it impossible to get the hinge pin in and I had to replace the hinge...SO NO CORTEC AROUND HINGES. I then riveted the parts to the spar, reinserted the hinge pin and ensured free movement on the rudder. All set.

ALSO REMEMBER TO SAFETY WIRE THE HINGE WHEN FINALIZING THE RUDDER.
