Brief Description:  Firewall Mounted

I finished up riveting the firewall. Also installed part of the steel bungee. Did a tets fit of the nose gear and it touches the cross pin. T his is a known problem. The fix is to either move the holes the pin is in (not easy) or get a solid 5/8" 4130 rod and remove a small amount of material in the middle to eliminate the interfrence. This is the way I'll go.

Mounted the firewall and didn't like that it couldn't go all the way back to the steel cabin frame. I cut a small angle off the longerons to ge the firewall back where it should be.

Note of caution: The pilot holes in the flange of the firewall determines where the holes into the side skins get drilled. Before drilling the hole from the firewall flange pilot hole into the longeron make sure the longeron is in the correct spot on the firewall flange...line the longeron up with the horizontal pilot holes in the side skin and mark the position of the longeron, on the firewall flange. Then drill and I used a strap duplicator (hole finder) to get the location of the hole in the side skin.
