Brief Description:  Rivet Cabin/ Landing Gear Weldments

Finally finished riveting the cabin. Left the whole center tunnel unriveted. All rivets pulled from the outside.

Used stainless steel rivets to attach the welded cabin frame. Got them from McMaster Carr...note that the A5 SS rivets supplied by Zenith are onle one grip range. I got 3 different grip ranges from McMaster and used them accordingly.

Also used SS rivets with the LG weldments. Made a mistake when reinstalling these I neglected to cleco the holes inside the gear channel, so when I pulled the rivets on the cabin side, the weldment moved slightly and now the holes inside the gear channel were misalligned. To solve this I enlarged the 3/16 holes to 1/4 and used AN4 bolts there. Same for both sides. Also in regard to the LG weldments when creating the holes for the interior seat angle supports I drilled sveral of the holes too low, necessitating the dimpling of those hole and installing countersunk rivets in those locations....turns out only one of these would have interfered on each side but I dimpled the lowest 2.

The location of some of the nut/bolts made for a difficult time torquing them...had to use the needle nose vice grips to hold the nuts (from the inside) of the two lowest left inside corner. Also had to mostly torque them from the outside, couldn't fit the socket around the nuts in most of the locations from the inside.
