Manual Reference:  Section 6 - Rudder
Brief Description:  Rudder Structure

Fabricated R-717 shim and 2 ea R-716 rudder bottom attach strips from .032 T3. Trimmed R-710 rudder horn brace using notches as guide. Stepped up rod-end hole in fwd flange of R-704 rib to 3/8. Cleco'd structure together and final sized holes. Fluted fwd flange of R-703 tip rib as required to align holes with R-713 counter-balance skin. Final sized counter-balance skin to tip rib holes. Cleco'd the skin to the structure. Clamped rudder bottom attach strips in place. Back drilled rudder horn brace thru skin and R-704 rib. Back drilled rudder bottom attach holes thru skin. Final sized skin attach holes. Disassembled, deburred holes and finished edges. Dimpled skin attach holes. Rudder parts ready for treat and paint.

Note: The guide notches used to trim R-710 rudder horn brace tuned out to be too deep and resulted in not having edge distance once the holes were picked up from the rib. A new one was purchased from Van's. I trimmed much less this time and continued to trim a little at a time to get a good fit.
