Brief Description:  Fabricated Trim Tab Hinge Pins

Fabricated the trim tab hinge pins as shown in the drawings. For each of the hinge pins, I decided to secure the end to the stabilator rear spar using a segment of hinge material to hold the end of the pin (see photo). The section of hinge that holds the end of the pin is secured to the rear spar using a #6 locking nut plate. The manual shows the hinge pin secured to the rear spar using 2 #40 holes and safety wire. I thought that "my" method ("borrowed" from another builder's log) looked a little better and allowed the hinge pin to be removed by removing the #6 screw.

NOTE: the photo in this entry shows the nut plate clecoed to the "wrong" side of the spar--this is just for alignment. The nut plate will be riveted on the "inside" surface of the rear spar. A #6 screw will go through the hinge segment, through the rear spar and then into the locking nut plate.
