Brief Description: Installed Trim Tab Center Hinge
Installed the trim tab center hinge on the rear spar of the stabilator. The fabricated hinge (made in a previous step/log entry) consists of 2 pieces. One piece has 11 "pin bushings" and the other piece has 10 pin bushings. By pin bushings I mean the round part that the hinge pin slides into. I spent some time trying to determine which hinge piece was supposed to be mounted onto the stabilator rear spar (the one with 10 or the one with 11 pin bushings). I looked at a number of builder logs on the website. Most mounted the hinge piece with 11 pin bushings onto the stabilator rear spar although 2 builders mounted the piece with 10 pin bushings to the stabilator rear spar. I chose to mount the piece with 11 pin bushings to the rear spar. This also allows a better fit when forming the hinge pin and securing it to the rear spar.
Using this same logic I mounted the left and right hinge pieces that had 6 pin bushings to the rear spar. The hinge pieces with 10 (center), 5 (left) and 5 (right) pin bushings will be mounted to the trim tab in a later step.
