Brief Description:  Calibrate Compass (PAP-T1)

It was a beautiful Saturday with clear skies and cooler temps. I decided I would take the plane out for a spin and calibrate the EFIS compass...just to get rid of one more nag in the display warnings. There is a compass rose at the end of the taxi way at my new home base, so I started it up and waited for it to warm up before taxi. It's been awhile since I messed with the EFIS, so I had to pull up the instruction manual to remind myself how to get to the set-up menu (press buttons 7 & 8 at the same time and hold). I wandered out to the taxi way and found the compass rose. It was real easy with the Dynon and you just line up on each heading, press the direction of choice and wait until it finishes calibrating. I saw heard and saw 2 planes land and it wasn't until I was on my last direction heading that I realized I was blocking the taxi way. I told the other plane I was just finishing up , then moved out of the way. I thought with the taxi way clear I could try a taxi test and check airspeed and rudder control up to 25kts. I proceeded down the taxi way when I saw another plane heading directly towards me...the 2nd plane that I forgot about. I quickly powered down and did a quick 180 and tried it again. Everything works and the rudder seems to control direction without braking at 20+ kts. The airspeed doesn't start to register until I get to about 20 kts. I'm scheduled to do my transition training this coming weekend, so I'll try to see if the SLSA is the same. I also thought since I was out on the taxi way I better get some numbers on the tail, so people know who to complain about.
