Brief Description: Drill hinge attachment holes (38-06)
I set the side hinge pins to the length I wanted based on the distance from the hinge. I tried using the intersection point, but that put the screw location pretty far forward. So I opted to set them about a ½” in front of the hinge. This required a little bit of a goose neck bend to the pin to get it to sit flush, but overall it looks better…I think. I then taped everything down into position and started drilling all the holes. It was a lot of holes and more clecos than I had, so I had to start steeling them from other hinges as I went along. It helped to pull on the neighboring clecoe while I drilled, so the hinge wouldn’t push away too much. There are a couple places I wish the fit could be better, but I was done playing with it and I was a risk to just make things worse. It’s amazing how solid this flimsy fiberglass cowling feels, now that it is attached.
