Brief Description:  Engine mount installation (46-05)

Well I tried 1001 different ways to not install the engine mount and some of those ways even involved following the directions, but in the end it was easier to just remove the water pump. I think Vans has added an extra brace (piece of trapezoid shaped metal to strengthen the lower left brace. This made it virtually impossible to get it to slide past the pump piping. It was a piece of cake once I removed the pump. Let’s hope it doesn't leak like crazy once I get it running.
I installed the engine mount bolts to 30 ft-lbs. I heard some people were adding some Loctite, but for now I just went with the torque. I looked all through the Rotax manual to find the installation torque, but the only thing I found was a reference to use the airframe suggested torque value. The Vans manual says to use the engine manufactures suggested torque value. I went with 30 ft-lbs based on previous suggestions, but I will follow up with Vans to confirm. All but the upper left bolt had easy access. The upper left bolt required some creative techniques. I also had to buy a complete set of socket Allen so I could use my torque wrench. The upper left required me to slide on a ratchetting box wrench onto the Allen portion of the Allen socket (can't remember the size, but it fit perfectly over the Allen, and then I pushed the Allen into the upper left bolt. I then torqued the Allen to the same feel I got from the easy access bolts (30 ft-lbs). I can check again once the left carburetor comes off, but this should be pretty close. I tested it on some other bolts and it worked great.
