In prep for Oshkosh this year I wanted to get the trim tabs installed to make sure all the controls worked freely and compare to some flying RV-12's. I sized the hinge wire and with a little/lot of effort slide it in. Make sure when you put the second trim tab on that the 90 deg angle is facing the right way (down). I caught myself just before sliding it in. I also noticed that after 2+ years of ignoring this part of the build, that I was missing some of the hardware (cotter pins and ANS-10A bolt). Undoubtedly, I used on other parts of the plane somewhere.
For a while I've been wondering why the controls weren't balanced. The control stick would just fall all the way back, so I was thinking that I had too much lead weight on the elevator assembly, but after installing the trim tabs it looks like it perfectly balanced. Nice job Vans.
