Brief Description:  Detailed finishing on canopy (34-15)

First off I can't believe it's been a month since I did any work on the plane. Work has been stealing all my time lately...unfortunately that means no work on the plane. I am looking forward to Oshkosh this year and plan on looking at some of the details around peoples canopies. I have noticed in the past that people either have them up or down, but I haven't watched or observed them being open or being closed. I also want to get some video of the control surface movements, just to make sure mine match an already flying RV.

So back to today: I laid out the template and marked the outlines of what is supposed to be trimmed off. For the surface across the top I used a string pulled tight then traced it with a sharpie, to give me a smooth line connecting the left and right sides. Then I went around with the dremmel tool to cut up to about a 1/4" of the line. I'm not ready to cut it all the way back until I do some more fit checks. I also added some black resin/flox mixture to the holes to fill in the gap between the fiberglass shell and the bolt holes (just foam bock material before). I'm still trying to sand everything smooth, but I saw some thin areas up near the canopy edge, so I mixed up some black resin mixture and painted the top, since this will be visible from the inside.

I think I will need to final size all the edges before finishing the sanding since the sanding will erase all my edge marks
