Brief Description:  Attach stabilator (11-03 & 32-13)

Section 11-03:
So in order to finish the control section I needed to step back in time and install the stabilator. It has been hanging on the wall for almost 2 years now and a little dusty. I managed to get it down and with the help of my son Benjamin; we positioned it on a table right behind the plane. I let the nose wheel come up so I could get the hinge points pretty close. This part went fairly well and it was nice to see it attached, although it takes up a bunch more room in my ever decreasing garage. It was so easy when it was just a empennage or wing or fuselage, but now that it’s taking shape, it sure is a space hog.

Section 32-13:
With the help of Benjamin, I pulled the cables with the string I installed 2+ years ago and that went perfect. I attached the bolts and nuts and I was good to go....so I thought. After another look at the instructions, I noticed that I failed to install the AN960-10L washers that get sandwiched in between the clevis and the stabilator attachment. No problem, I'll just slide out the bolt (part way) and slip in the washers. No issues on the lower on, but when I tried to do the same on the upper, the bolt slipped out and the cable fell back into the empennage...WOW. So much for installing that string, now I had to figure out a way to grab that cable end. I started with a coat hanger, which got me pretty close, but it was really had to see, so I went to ask Benjamin for help and as I pulled the coat hanger out it snagged and slipped from my hand springing it back into the empennage. Now I have the end of the cable and a coat hanger in the back section of my empennage. So with the help from Benjamin and a long stick with duct tape on it we managed to get the coat hanger out. With the help of a flexible claw too I managed to grab the end of the cable and get it to one of the lower holes. At this point we just ran a string from the upper hole to the lower hole and got it installed...with the AN960-10L washers. We're not done yet...with all that fishing around to g
