Brief Description:  Wings trial fit (30-03)

Well took the plane out of the garage to do a trial fit of the wings in prep for setting the torque tubes. This is the first time I went to fit the wings and I should have known better, but that is rarely the case, but I ended up causing some damage to the side skin. This is the area next to the wing slot. The wing got a little twisted as we were removing it and crunched in the skin. I bent it back the best I could, but there is a tear. I'll check with Vans to see how I should repair, but I think I can just blend out the tear. I did have to blend the inside edge a little (see 1st picture), because it was binding up with the top of the wing spar. I also should have removed the connector plugs, prior to trying to fit the wing. I ended up snapping off one of the pins trying to wiggle the wing into place. Now I get to figure out how to remove the wires so I can replace the connector. The next wing was a little easier, mostly because of all the lessons learned from the first wing. I made sure to remove the connector plug ahead of time. I needed to grind a little off each of the hons on the fwd and aft side of the wing. It was really hard to get the pins in place as well, but that's probably a good thing. I installed the flaperons prior to attaching the wings.
