Brief Description: Install mixer and control rods (32-05)
Merry Christmas! I prepared the bell cranks for the mixer assembly and installed the bearings. Installing the bell crank wasn't too bad, since I had access to get underneath. The control rods were a little more challenging. First I don't have a tall drill press to drill for the tap into each rod, so I just used the hand drill. I held it in my drill press vice with some scotchbrite to act as a pad to keep it from gouging the rod. I did my best to line it up and Cyndi eyed it from the side to make sure I was holding the drill level. This seemed to work well, just have to be careful and let the drill bit find the center. Then tapped and set the proper lengths. For installation, I started with a little krazy glue on the washers to keep them in place. I also got a retractable claw grip for Christmas, which came in handy to grip the bolt head while I positioned the rod end in place on the stick. I also stuck a mirror underneath to help me see what I was doing. This seemed to work well and now the control sticks are linked.
