Brief Description: Completed fuel line to gascolator
After the fiasco with the long tube I decided to move on to the shorter sections at the front. They are a little more straight forward and I was able to make some measurements to make sure the bends would work out, which they did. The only issue I had was the gascolator required safety wire for the screws and I don’t have safety wire or safety wire pliers. So I placed another order for some. Unfortunately the pliers are now on back order, so it will take some time before I get that completed. In the meantime I just fit everything together to make sure all connections work….and they do. I also watched a couple you tube videos on how to safety wire and laid out on paper what I want it to look like, so I’m ready when the stuff comes. While I waited on the new fuel lines to be delivered, I proceeded to the ¼” return line. Well, good thing I ordered some extra ¼” tube when I placed my other order in anticipation that I would run into issues. True to form, I did run into issues. The bends that worked out so well on the first 3/8” tube from the tank didn’t work at all for the ¼” tube. The Parker bender I have puts a much sharper bend then what is shown in the overlay figures in the manual, which puts the tubing in the wrong location after each bend. Another section of fuel line becomes a pretzel….aaahh. After I calmed down a little I used the tighter bends as a template to update the drawings in the manual. It looks like I have to shift the “start bend location” closer to the corner by about a ¼” for my bender to line up with the drawings.
