Brief Description: Long Fuel Line (F-1259E) Woes (28-04)
Well I had success on the first section of fuel line, so I moved on to the next section...the long fuel line from the fuel pump to the shut-off valve. I left me self some extra length and followed the s-bend laid out in the manual (28-04, rev 2, figure 3) exactly. This worked great for the previous section, but not for the long tube. The s-bend offset is correct, but the distance from the fuel pump end to the first bend is longer than needed. The trouble I ran into was that the fuel line 2nd part of the s-bend ran into the bulkhead before it cleared the fuel pump fitting, so I needed to shorten it up. The issue with the s-bend is: if you try to increase the bend angles to shorten the length, then it messes up the offset. If the s-bend had 90 deg angles, then you could easily make some slight changes without affecting the offset, but sine the drawing has ~45 deg angles then it dramatically affects the offset. I tried multiple times of sliding it down through all the holes, which was a challenge in itself, but could not get it to fit right. The smart thing to do would have been cut off the flare and re-create it ~1 inch back, but of course I figured it out way too late (the fuel line was already a pretzel with some extra twists). So, next I proceeded to order 16 more feet of 3/8 line and 16 feet of ΒΌ line (just in case). In the meantime I proceeded with the smaller sections of fuel line from the shut-off valve to the flow meter. Update: I included an updated picture of a method that worked for me to get the bend correct. This worked well and I had no issues installing the long fuel line.

Lesson learned...don't follow the picture (figure 3)
