Brief Description:  Flaperon Mixer Assembly (21-04)

Ok, it's together, but I still don't know how it works....so I did some research and found this youtube video from Brent Connelly.

Also, I have to note the washer call-outs. When I inventoried everything the parts list called out that the washer callout for AN960-416 & AN960-416L are being replaced by NAS1149 F0463P, so of course I labeled all my storage containers with the new number…and of course the instructions still call out the old number, so it’s hard to find anything. That was minor, but it was more interesting that the parts list does not differentiate between the 416 and the 416L (thin version). When I assembled the Mixer I quickly realized the thicker version was too tight. So I stuck with the directions and stayed with the AN960-416L for either side of the bushing (AL .259X.375X1.25).

Another note, the directions say to bolt the longer bushing in place (step5, 21-04), but doesn’t say how much to tighten it and it directly affects the movability of the flaperon mixer arm….nor does it state how loose the flaperon mixer arm should be. If Vans just had a pound load range that would be helpful. The fact that Vans doesn’t call it out, must mean that it doesn’t matter too much…we’ll see. I should be able to make a change later if needed.
