With the help of Stephen (my go to guy for moving wings) I stored both wings on the stand to make some room on the work tables for the flaperon assembly. On 18-02, steps 1-2 were already complete...sweet. Looks like Vans did the work of fabricating the parts, the A-1207 actuation bracket and the A-1206 pivot bracket. I checked all the dimensions and deburred a couple edges, but otherwise it they were good to go. I'm sure this saved me some time and frustration...thanks Vans. Proceeded to step 3 and deburred all the nose ribs, then fluted them as directed. I still have quite a bit of curve in the A-1204 nose rib even though I put in a fairly deep flute. I think I will check, out what some of the other planes at Oshkosh have done. Anyway proceeded to assemble and drill the first holes through the counter balance. Stainless steel is tough stuff. I ended up just starting it in the assembled condition to mark the location, then taking it over to the drill press to finish it up. I'll need to order more #30 drill bits.
Stored the wings to the side to give myself some working room
Deburred and assembled the first parts of the left flaperon
Started drilling but it was slow goiing through the stainless steel
