Brief Description: Landing light cutout, and lens fabricate (40-03)
I tried something different this time around with the lens. I took the blue film from the W-1203-R skin and covered both sides of the lens, before I did any fits. The hope is that the lens stays scratch free...so far so good. Everything fits up nicely. I made too many mistakes with the Molex connectors, so now I'm waiting for some more parts before finishing up the wiring. Overall I'm pleased with the results.
I had the same issue many other RV-12 builders have with the landing light attachment bolts. It looks like the light has been updated, but the attachment holes or shallow, so the bolts bottom out before it clamps the light in place. I talked to Vans and they recommended grinding down the bolt length. Also, my light kit did not include the washer and lock washer called out on 40-07, so I also asked Vans about just using some standard (hardware store) washer and lock washer and they agreed that would be fine. So I'm good to go now.
