Brief Description: Rudder fit check with VS (07-03)
Made the trial fit up with the vertical stabilizer and it seemed to fit and move well. Exciting to see some moving parts. Once I determined how many and which washers I had to install as spacers, I recorded the combination right onto that page of the manual.
Next I primed the parts and start trying to rivet the upper hinge of the rudder spar, but it's tricky and I've already messed it up twice. Getting practice drilling out rivets. The rivets are hard to get to with the squeezer and they seem a little long for this assembly. I decided to call it a night since it was late and I was starting to get frustrated. I'll work on it again on Monday, but more cold weather in the forecast. We'll see.
Temporay attach lower hinge and check fit
Upper hinge assembly using 2 washers as spacers. Nice fit.
Lower hinge assembly fit only needed one washer spacer. Another good fit.
