Brief Description:  Homebuilding builds Friendships

This month I experience the pleasure of building with a friend, Sonny Webster - a fellow 650 scratch builder, traveled 2 1/2 hours north from his home to spend 6 1/2 hours in the shop with me and then travel the 2 1/2 hours back to his home! This was one of those experiencies where we both had confidence in each others abilities and craftmenship. We truely accomplished 13 hours of work because both of us were familiar with reading the Zenith print, we both had the same work ethic, same attention to detail, and did not need to give each other instruction as to the next steps. Thanks Sonny for a great day together.

The L.H. side of the fuselage was the first work attempted this month, I utilized the detail of the 650 B print to attach diagonals between the uprights on both fuselage sides and then started on the top panel of the rear tail section. Sonny and I installed 6B3-6 top panel and all assorted stiffeners. This required being carefull to align all parts to make sure everything was straight and square. Additionally we started the installation of the cable outlet fairing for the rudder controls.

The following Saturday & Sunday I completed mounting the cable fairings & fairleads, drilled all holes in the fuselage sides to size, cut the rear most L angle uprights to allow clearence for the rudder cables, drilled and counter sunk for tack rivets of the upper longeron & located, drilled, & cleoc'd the gear channel & rear seat panel. 6B6 starts work on the firewall, I completed attaching the lower and top stiffners and L angle to the top stiffner.
