In order to join and keep both Center Section Bulkhead parts together, Vans suggest to use two hardwood or particleboard spacers 1 7/16 (1.438") thick. According to some builders, these wooden spacers normally get crushed when the fwd and aft bulkheads are joined together, so I've decided to use the bolt/nut/washer combination sandwiched inbetween. To keep things fair and square, I temporarily torqued these 8 bolts to 30 in/Lb. Enough to keep parts secure, but not so that they will crush -and worse- deform the aluminum parts underneath and in between. The installation and tightening of these parts was done using the close-tolerance bolts in place, so that their correct alingment and squaredness was considered as well. I also final-drilled #30 all of the 1/8 holes in the top plate of the F-804B-2 Center Section Aft Bulkhead Assembly, and #40 all of the 3/32 nutplate attachment holes as well.
