Brief Description:  EZ Out Center Console

After deciding I wanted a center console I bought the EZ Out center console from aircraftextras.com. The metal was all .063" and was almost preformed (had to adjust a couple edges) and punched. It came with some piano hinge that was mangled on one edge and all blind rivets that I didn't like. The instructions were also pretty useless, but beyond that it should fit the bill. I changed the plans and machine countersunk all the #30 holes and easily squeezed some 4-5 rivets into every hole (after alodining of course). I used some wider leftover piano hinge from my wingtip mod and fabricated the hinge. I am refraining from finishing the front attachment spring (where you see cleco's in the picture) until the armrest comes back from the upholstery shop (lemke in Germany). Once that returns I'll rivet the spring in the correct spot to account for any changes needed due to upholstery. Otherwise, it will just sit until the fuselage is built and ready for match drilling the screw holes. The kit also didn't come with the Llonger Screws" that the company touts as the ease of installation for this console.

If aircraftextras really wanted to make a complete kit they should create better instructions, replace blind rivets with solid rivets, and include the screws necessary to attach to the fuselage nutplate. The piano hinge they sent also wasn't big enough and had the edges pre-crimped which would make installation more difficult had I actually used the part. Quality control also missed the edge on the base plate that wasn't fully formed (had to be sanded off with my belt sander). But after some adjustment it will accomplish the task.
