Brief Description:  Wing Tip

Lots of finishing work today on the wing tip. Countersunk the rivet holes in the fiberglass, riveted the piano hinges to the wings and wing tips, cut and shaped the wing tip lenses, and installed the Archer Nav antenna in the left wing tip.

Of note, piano hinges are already Anodized so no need to Alodine. I was skecptical about the fiberglass spacer between the piano hinge and the wing skin, but it looks about right and I am happy I did use the spacer.

If ever installing the Archer Nav antenna again keep 2 things in mind. If attaching to a piano hinge then be sure to sand off the anodizing since it does not allow for a good ground connection. Luckily the antenna still grounds through the rivets and steel wire in the piano hinge. Second, the concept of running the nav / strobe light wires across the antenna is only needed if the wires have to cross the antenna. If they can be routed completely away from the antenna or along the ground strip then that is preferred.
