Brief Description:  Attached right wingtip

Finished up the lights on the tip. Made some standoffs for the LED light as it is basically just LED's on a circuit board. Not the prettiest thing but functional. Also put in the strobe and attached the lens, Doesn't look too bad but it will need some cleanup for final paint. I have been also contemplating using a formed and polished and cleared piece of aluminum where the lights go but that can wait until paint so I know if it will look goofy or not.

Lastly I attached the wingtip for now to get a good idea how it looks. It seemed like a couple of the nutplates may have popped loose because of the down pressure needed to keep the screwdriver from jumping but the few I did screw down all went. I was worried that there might not be enough support in that fiberglass after countersinking for the rivets.

The only thing left is to fabricate the marker beacon for this tip. Turns out I had some RG-58 laying around from my old CB radio days so I can strip some down and make the antenna. This is nothing more than a 34.4 inch piece of bare copper attached to a BNC connector. For me I will strip the center conductor free for that length. This is just a MB antenna and is broadcast in a tight ellipse at 75mhz so it doesn't require any antenna "magic" to recieve across a band. Some people go out and buy a draggy, "high performance", external antenna for $150+ but that is such a complete waste. Even the Archer Nav antenna I am using can be built with about $5 in scrap material (didn't realize how cheesy they were until I got them). No magic to it, Bob's book even has plans for this style Nav antenna.
