The door sagas continue. One of the things I saw at OSH this year was an alternative way to mount door seals. Using some seals from McMaster Carr, you can mount the seals on the door frame rather than the door itself. The Van's and other seals mount to the door and tend to be problematic when it comes to actually sealing. Several alternatives exisat but this seemed like the best to me. In order to use these you have to make sure you have a fairly consistent gap all the way around which isn't too big of a deal. The problem comes in provising a proper surface to mount the seal on. This requires some buildup of the door frame using flox because it is a bit too rounded otherwise. This has the added benifit of squaring off the door frame rather pleasingly. So I floxed all the appropriate areas and will finish the sills off when I get back. I also made the returns on the door bolts. These are really only cosmetic and I may get rid of them if I need to remove material off of the door blocks to allow them to fit.
