Brief Description:  Cabin top finish work

Well for the last two days I've been knee deep in bondo, more specifically Rage polyester filler. The cabin top is well known in the earlier kits as being rather "rough" which is putting it mildly. So there is a lot of filling and smoothing to get the top to a point where you won't get airsick looking at all the waves in it. I will be using a headliner so it doesn't need to be perfect but it does need to be fairly smooth so ripples don't telegraph through the headliner material. Anyone that has done body work in the past knows the routine. put the filler on and try and not use any more than you really need because you will take 90% of it back off. I've probably used about a 1/3rd of a gallon but you would nevber know looking at the top. So I basically do that and then get my trusty 5" orbital sander with the vac attached and go to town. One thing I bought recently that has helped a lot is a cyclonic dust seperator fro my shop vac. It removes about 90% of the dust before it hits the vac and trust me, it works. I got mine from Oneida Air which specializes in shop vacs big and small. On a side note I have most of my remaining stuff on order which is good. I just got a call that my prop is at the local docks and ready to be picked up. I need to get my load planning sheet over to VP so they will ship their stuff too. I'm a little annoyed at Stein at the moment. They are always pretty bad at returning calls and VM's bacause of how busy they are but he's told me a couple times that they were shipping stuff now. The first time they forgot and the second time was missing a couple of key things. Not a real big deal as I don't need most of it yet but I would rather they don't say they are sending something if they aern't so I'm not wondering if the UPS guy lost it.
