Brief Description:  Located and mounted the Andair fuel valve.

I decided to spend some time this evening installing the Andair valve. Needed to do a couple of things. First, some others have basically cut a big hole in the tunnel cover and then mounted the whole valve so it sat flush with the cover. This basically required you to mount the valve down below and the valve knob about 4 inches above. I felt there was a better way and here is what I did. I started by enlarging the factory hole in the cover to 1 1/4" so the knob would mount normally. I then bolted the knob assembly to the tunnel cover. That left me with the task of mounting the valve. I discovered that the factory mounting plate could be adapted to hold the Andair valve and so I proceded to center the vavlve body in the factory mount and match drill the three bolt holes in the valve to the factory mount. With the valve body now fitted to the factory mount and the valve knob fitted in the factory location in the tunnel cover, I knew I had alignment with the factory mount locations. I just needed to move them down. After bending up some tubing to mount the valve body to the fuel filter, I had the distance I needed to be off the floor. This basically allowed me to lower the mount 4 1/4" from the factory location. It was a simple matter of using a square and transcribe the factory holes down 4 1/4". I was then able to determine the length the extension tube needed to be which ended up being about 3 15/16". I then installed the roll pin into the valve knob and extension tube assembly permanently affixing the two. Most people attached the valve knob and valve body as one piece but I don't feel it is necessary. As long as you measure the extension tube length correctly, the tunnel cover will not let the two seperate. And when you remove the cover you have much more room to work. I am very happy with how this turned out and now there is an addition 4 inches of space for the heater tubing to get by without heating the fuel lines.
