Brief Description:  Mounted ELT, made gaskets for heat boxes

Well I decided to stick with the common location for the ELT and so I mounted it on the tail deck. The little bracket for the portable antenna popped right off when bumped so I mounted it right in front of the elt with some E6000. I also took apart the heat boxes and made a little gasket with some red RTV. Looking at the design of these things I can see why there may be a heat problem. When the cabin heat is closed the air is simply dumped overboard providing a steady stream of hot air to heat up the firewall and boxes. If this actually stopped the flow it would make a huge difference. Once I have the engine mounted I may look at a way to provide a diverter valve to shut off the heat flow and allow for cool air to flow through instead. This would also allow for mixed heat control to the cabin.
