Brief Description: Cutting and Installing the left Wing Tip Lens Cove
I cut the lens cover using metal snips, cutting just outside my original markings. Then I sanded the lens to the cut lines on my table mounted belt sander. I had to adjust the lines four times, recut, and resand until I finally got a good fit (image #2). Then I mounted nutplates in the corner, drilled the plexiglass and very carefully covered the unfinished fiberglass with black electricians tape. I thought that would look kinda neat, but I think I'll remove the tape and paint the edge below the tape when I paint the rest of the plane. Anyway, I got a pretty good fit on the lens. I hope the right wing tip lens and light installation goes faster with fewer mistakes. I can't believe I've spent nearly 23 hours messing with these lights and the associated wiring!
