Brief Description: Brake Line Installation & Cut Wheel
I fabricated the brake lines on the main gear from ¼ tubing that was approximately 41.5” in length. Then I installed AN818-4D coupling nuts and sleeves and I flared the fittings on both ends; attaching them to the brake and fuselage AN818-4D ¼“ elbows. As I was installing the right main-gear brake lines, I rotated the tire and was really unhappy to see what looks like a 3” x 1/16” box-cut cross-wise on the tire. I don’t know how I missed the cut when I was installing the tire on the rim. I called up Van’s to see if they would consider replacing the tire but they said sorry, the tires are too old. So, I ordered a new tire and will install it when it arrives. I was bummed…over $90 bucks by the time you pay for shipping and I know I didn’t cut the tire when I was working on it.
