Brief Description: Re-rigging the ailerons & flaps
After I installed the flaps and pushrods, I realized the ailerons in their neutral position weren't perfectly in-line with the flap in their full-retracted (neutral) position. To figure out whether it was the flaps or the ailerons which were not rigged properly, I temporarily installed the right wing tip and aligned the aileron with the wing tip (note the clamp on the wing tip and aileron trailing edge...1st picture). Not suprisingly, this lined up perfectly with the fully retracted flap (note the 2nd clamp on the flap and the aileron trailing edge...1st picture). Then when I went to the left wing the aileron trailing edge was 1/2" below the fully retracted flap trailing edge...SO that's when I figured out my little jig to adjust the neutral position of the ailerons wasn't accurate. Oh well...the 8 hours it took me to rig the ailerons was really good practice because it only took me about 45 minutes to re-rig the ailerons to align with the fully retracted flaps. This time I got it right...see picture # 2. The control stick in the cockpit is perfectly vertical and centered; the flap is fully retracted...life is good!
