Brief Description:  Rigging the Ailerons

The aileron-neutral jigs are set in-place and the neutral position for each aileron is set using a squeeze clamp (picture 1 & 2). Next I adjusted the W-715 bellcrank-to-stick pushrods such that the sticks are in their neutral positions (vertical and square horizontally) with the ailerons securely held in their neutral position. It takes some trial and error to get both pushrod assemblies adjusted so when you install the bolts attaching the pushrod to the stick assemblies, all components are exactly in their neutral position. Even though this took me 8 hours to accomplish, I am confident the wings will fly perfectly level with no induced rolling tendencies. Additionally, the minimum and maximum aileron extension and deflection are equal on both sides within 1/100 of a degree tolerence and are both exactly in the middle of their specified ranges. The A&P out at our FBO told me I'm too fussy...and I probably am. When I'm finished I will have done the best I can and that's all that matters to me in the end.
